2022 National Mathematics and Science Competition (NMSC)
April 9, 2022 - April 10, 2022
KSEA is excited to announce the 2022 National Mathematics Competition (NMC) and National High School Physics Competition (NHSPC) on April 9 and April 10, 2022. Both competitions will be held online. Top-scoring 2022 NMC participants may be invited to the Hanwha Mathematics Olympiad that will be announced in May 2022.
Competition Dates:
- Math (Grades 4-8), April 9, 2022 (Saturday) 8 am – 5 pm in each time zone
- Math (Grades 9-11), April 10, 2022 (Sunday) 8 am – 5 pm in each time zone
- Physics (Grades 9-12), April 9, 2022 (Saturday) 1 pm – 3pm EDT/10am – 12pm PDT
Registration:
- Currently open! Register at https://nmsc.ksea.org. The deadline to register is March 31, 2022.
Student Orientation/Test Login: April 2, 2022 (Saturday)
- Login details will be sent to the email used to register at https://nmsc.ksea.org.
Test Format:
- Math Test: The written exams include Part 1 consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions and Part 2 consisting of 5 free response questions with integer-valued answers.
- Physics Test: The written exam consists of 12 multiple-choice questions with 10 choices for each question.
Proctoring:
- NMSC will be offered asynchronously with the parents’ consent to proctor students. Contestants also will be required to log into the NMSC Headquarters Proctoring System using a smartphone.
NMC Chapter Award Ceremony:
- Each chapter will hold its own award ceremony. Stay tuned for your chapter’s announcement.
NMC National Award Ceremony: April 23, 2022 (Saturday) 4 pm EDT/1 pm PDT
- Each participant will be ranked among NMC contestants in the same grade. The top three performers in each grade category will be awarded $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place. Top-scoring 2022 NMC participants will be invited to the Hanhwa Mathematics Olympiad that will be announced in May 2022.
NHSPC National Award Ceremony: Will be held in May 2022.
