NMSC 2023 Information
Thank you for your participation and patience. Please read the following very important announcements for your information.
The venue has changed. NMSC will take place at Bellevue College (Building C) on the main campus. Please DO NOT go to Microsoft Building for this event. Please check the following venue address carefully.

Students must arrive early to check in for attendance and get the ID sticker (name tag) and T-shirts between 9:00 and 10:00 am on 4/15/2023 (Saturday). The registration must be finished before the opening ceremony and exam instruction, which will start sharply at 10:00 am. Please remember that the registration desk will be very crowded. To ensure you have the best experience and be at peak performance, arrive by 9:00 am. You can find the detailed schedule.
A waiver form for each student must be submitted for the NMSC. Please submit the completed form during check-in.
Lunch (pizza and drink) will be provided for both students and parents. If your kid(s) has any dietary restrictions or special considerations such as food allergies, she (he) can bring lunch from home.
We do not provide breakfast. Please let your kid(s) eat breakfast well before the event starts.
Students should bring their own drinking water and tissues.
No calculators, phones, dictionaries, rulers, or notes are allowed during the math exam. Pencils, scratch papers, and exam papers will be prepared by the event organizer.
Sample problems and their answers are provided (in pdf) to help students better prepare for the mathematics exam (https://nmsc.ksea.org/general-information/). Actual exam questions may be similar to these samples. Part I consists of multiple-choice problems and part II, free response problems.
The science competition is automatically registered for students participating in the math competition. It is a team-based science project, which allows students to experience fun, creativity, teamwork, and achievement.
Students who registered for the NAKSNW Korean Competition on 4/15/2023 are recommended to leave right after the math competition and return for the award ceremony.
Students must save their ID sticker to enter the classroom for competitions and to exchange for a participation gift given at the end of the award ceremony. Please advise students not to lose it.
For parents, there will be two interesting and informative seminars while students participate in math and science competitions. The details will be provided later.
11:00 am – 12:00 pm: Seminar I for Parents
– Title: “How should students prepare for successful college admissions?”
– Speakers: Three UW Students (Computer Science, Business, etc.)
– Program: Introduction, Panel discussion and Q&A
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Seminar II for Parents
– Title: “AI’s Impact on Job and Education in the Future”
– Speakers: Three AI Experts (WSU and Naver US, and Microsoft)
– Program: Individual speech, Panel discussion and Q&A
A cafe will be open in the lobby of Building C on the day of the competition for parents and students.
All NMSC participants will be eligible for a raffle drawing a number of gifts. Do not leave early! Raffles will be available for purchase as well.

안녕하세요,
재미과학 기술자 협회에서 주최하는 2023 수학/과학 경시대회에 등록해 주셔서 감사합니다. 몇가지 중요한 사항이 아래와 같이 있으니 꼭 읽으셔서 착오가 없으시길 바랍니다.
수학과학 경시대회 장소가 Bellevue College 본교 Building C로 바뀌었습니다. 마이크로소프트 본사로 가시는 착오가 없으시길 부탁드립니다. 시험 장소는 다음과 같습니다.

온라인으로 등록 하셨어도, 당일날 (4/15 토요일) 아침 일찍 오셔서, 안내 데스크에서 현장 체크인하고, 등록 번호 스티커와 옷을 받는 것을 9:00 – 10:00am 사이에 마치셔야 합니다. 10:00에 Opening Ceremony와 시험 안내가 시작됩니다. 참고로 현장 안내 데스크는 아주 혼잡 할수 있습니다. 시험 시간 (11시)에 맞춰 오시면 시험에 참석하실수 없습니다. 9시까지 도착하시길 권장합니다. 자세한 시간표를 참조 바랍니다.
현장 체크인하실 때 학생에 대한 waiver form을 미리 작성하고 제출하셔야 합니다.
점심은 피자와 음료수가 제공되니 도시락은 준비하실 필요 없습니다. 점심시간은 12시에서 1시 입니다 (고등학생: 12:30-1시). 하지만, 개인 적으로 음식에 대한 선호도나 건강상의 문제가 있으시면 (알러지 등) 개인 도시락을 준비 하시길 바랍니다. 그리고 공식 행사가 10:00 am에서 4:30 pm까지 이므로 간식이 필요하시면 가져 오셔도 됩니다.
아침은 제공하지 않습니다. 학생과 학부모께서 아침 든든히 드시고 오시기 바랍니다.
학생이 마실 물과 휴지는 따로 준비해야 합니다.
연필, scratch paper, 그리고 시험지는 모두 제공이 되니 학생은 필기용품을 가져 오지 않으셔도 됩니다. 계산기나 사전, 전화기, 메모는 수학 시험 중 사용이 불가합니다.
각 학년별로 샘플 문제가 KSEA 웹사이트에서 pdf 파일로 제공 됩니다 (https://nmsc.ksea.org/general-information/). 파트 1은 객관식 문제이고 파트 2는 주관식 문제입니다, 여기의 샘플 문제를 충분히 풀수 있으면 풀수 있으니 충분히 풀어보고 오시길 추천합니다.
수학경시대회에 등록한 학생은 과학경시대회에 자동으로 등록됩니다. 학생들이 팀을 이루어 과학 과제를 수행하는 형식으로 재미와 창의력, 팀워크 그리고 성취감을 경험할 수 있습니다.
같은 날 서북미협회 학력어휘경시대회를 참여하는 학생들은 수학 경시대회를 마치고 바로 타코마에 갔다고 시험을 마치고 오면 시상식에 참여할 수 있습니다.
학생들은 현장에서 받은 이름표 스티커를 착용해야 시험 장소에 입실이 가능하며 이 스티커를 Award ceremony의 마지막에 참가상과 교환할 수 있습니다. 시험 후 버리지 않도록 학생들에게 알려 주십시요.
학생들이 시험 보는 동안 학부모님들을 위해 11시부터 3시까지는 두 개의 세미나를 준비 했습니다. 자세한 정보는 다시 제공될 예정입니다.
11:00 am – 12:00 pm: 학부모 세미나 1 (대학입시 준비를 어떻게 할것인가? 연사: UW 학생 총 3명)
1:00 pm – 3:00 pm: 학부모 세미나 2 (AI가 미래 직업과 교육에 미칠 영향, 연사: WSU, Naver US, Microsoft 등 총 3명)
시험 당일 학부모님과 학생들을 위해 행사장 로비에 위치한 카페의 영업을 요청해서 이용이 가능합니다.
시상식이 끝나고 경시대회 참가자 전원을 대상으로 추첨하여 푸짐한 선물이 준비될 예정입니다. 끝까지 남으셔서 당첨의 확률을 높이시길 바랍니다. Raffle 티켓은 따로 구입이 가능합니다.

Driving and Parking Information
A printed parking permit must be displayed on the car’s dashboard to avoid any penalty (attached in the email). Parking fee will be covered by KSEA, but you are responsible for printing the permit and displaying it on the dashboard. You can park on the lot 12, 14, or 15 (map attached), and the goolge map for these lots are provided below.
학교에 주차하실 때 주차표를 자동차 계기판 위에 보이게 놓으셔야 벌금이 부과되지 않습니다 (이메일에 첨부). 주차비는 재미한인과학기술자협회 (KSEA)에서 부담합니다. 주차표를 미리 프린트 하시고 차 안에 전시하시길 다시 한번 알려드립니다. 당일 주차장 12, 14, 혹은 15를 사용하시기 바랍니다 (주차장이 포함된 교내 지도 첨부). 아래 있는 주차장 12, 14, 15의 구글지도 링크를 클릭하시면 찾으실 때 도움이 될겁니다.
